Each year the Contra Costa Food Bank generously donates food to support the Friends of Oakley Christmas Basket Program. Their increased need combined with understandably fewer donations means THEY NEED OUR HELP!

Donate nutritious food without lifting a can! Your gift will be used to purchase and distribute our most-needed items. Every $1 provides 2 meals.

The Friends of Oakley – A Community Foundation has completed another successful year serving 242 families and over 600 children in the Oakley area with a Christmas dinner and toys.

This event would be impossible to complete without volunteers, they are worth their weight in gold. They generously give their time and dedication just to make this nonprofit and charity organization a success. Throughout the process, from registration, sorting and distribution they did a wonderful job keeping the flow running smoothly. We, as an organization, appreciate your selfless effort and you serve as a reminder that as individuals we can come together for the greater good.

There are a number of organizations, businesses and other entities that need to be recognized for their support in this effort; The Oakley Union Elementary School District for use of your facilities, Oakley Grocery Outlet, your partnership in this endeavor is invaluable, Daub 4 Kids Bingo, Kids Bike Lane and the Oakley Police Dept, the toys and bikes donated by these organizations helped provide the Christmas morning surprise we all hope for, Oakley Senior Center for the use of their facility to register participants and along with the Veterans of Oakley their support, the Freedom High School Leadership class, and a new comer this year Oakley Les Schwab Tire Center who allowed us to store and sort toys at their facility.
