The Friends of Oakley – A Community Foundation recently completed their 13Th annual Christmas Basket Give Away. We registered 214 families with over 650 children from Oakley and Bethel Island. A box of food with non-perishable and perishable food items including a frozen pie and topped off with a turkey and toys were provided each family.
This event was only successful because of volunteers. Volunteers are worth their weight in gold. They share their time and talents without compensation. Their commitment to community is evident in all that they do. To the citizens of the Oakley/Bethel Island community, students from Freedom High, team members from Delta Breeze Baseball and members of the Rotary Club of Oakley. Thanks for all that you’ve done. Your efforts make a difference in our community.
To all that donated toys and food in the barrels distributed in businesses and schools throughout Oakley thank you. Thank you, Flor do Oakley for your donation of turkeys, Newberry’s BLOCK for your toy donation and Kids Bike Lane for donating bikes.
Thanks to Brookfield Properties, NorthPoint Development, Dutch Bros – Coffee, Good Scents Florist and the individual Paypal donors for your financial support.
A special thank you to Grocery Outlet for your generous help and continued support of this event. Their Independence from Hunger program, held each year in the month of July, provides monetary and food help that aids us in meeting our goals.
Les Schwab – Oakley for providing us space to store and sort toys.
The City of Oakley and Oakley PD for their support
